The 2023 Billion-Ton Report is the fourth in a series of national biomass resource assessments commissioned by the U.S. Department of Energy - following the 2016 U.S. Billion-Ton Report, 2011 U.S. Billion-Ton Update, and the 2005 U.S. Billion-Ton Study.

The bioenergy Knowledge Discovery Framework supports the data-driven bioeconomy, by ensuring equitable access to high-quality data that supports breakthroughs for the US bioeconomy, including market analyses by feedstock and data behind the Billion-ton Reports. This data can be used to chart a course for larger investments in support of strategically targeted scientific research.
