The model used for analysis in portions of this report was based on the “USDA Agricultural Projections to 2018” from the USDA Long-Term Projections Report OCE-2009-1. Projections of the U.S. agricultural sector were extended to 2030 by extrapolating crop yields, exports, and population. The USDA and extrapolated projections were further disaggregated to county levels. The county-level data provided a non-unique, representative reference scenario, generated by the Department of Energy for use in the report, which is consistent, in the aggregate, with the national level projections.
